Thevally palace is as magnificent piece of architecture and very famous heritage building. It is located on the serene banks of Ashtamudi Lake and built in 19th century by Rani guri Parvati Bai. The architecture of the building is mixture of Dutch, Portuguese and British styles architecture. The structure of the palace is made of laterite and plaster.

Ashtamudi backwaters provide an excellent opportunity to tourists to see the beauty of nature from close quarters. Kollam has essentially tropical climate with cool winters and tyrannical summers. Monsoons receive average shower of rains between 1110 mm to 1500 mm. summers are hot and humid here with average 35 degrees temperature. Winters are comparatively cool and pleasant with average 20 degrees temperature.

Best time to visit

People, who cannot bare heat, avoid this place in summers between Marchs to May. It is ideal place to visit except summers. Best time to visit is between Novembers to February because of excellent climatic conditions. This period is ideal for sightseeing and enjoying beach activities.

By road – Kollam is important city of the state and well connected by wide road network with other cities of the state. Tourists can heir bus from cities like Kochi, Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Mangalore and many more.
