Kumarakom is a cluster of small islands and is famous for backwater tours. It is serenely beautiful destination and is dotted with many of traditional canoes and rice boats. By island driftwood museum showcases a unique collection of rich driftwood articles which has rich artistic values, made through an innovative art technique. It also houses different tree trunk and root sculptures in unique designs and forms. This museum is founded by Raji punnoose, an energetic school teacher. The sculptures of the museum comprise of twisted tree trunks, transformed driftwood pieces, roots and stumps. She has collected these sculptures from the seashores. Many of these sculptures resemble animals, reptiles, fishes, amphibian and birds. This museum is listed in the Limca book of records and worth visiting place because of its uniqueness and artistic values.

Aruvikkuzhi waterfall is beautiful spot where stream tinkle as it makes its way through the water roar and the landscape as it cascade down the mountain from a height of 100 feet. This place is an ideal point to spend day with family because of its scenic location and clam atmosphere.

Kumarakom bird sanctuary is spread over more than 14 acres of area. This place was established in an effort to preserve the natural habitat like coconut trees, mandrakes and various birds. It is heaven for birdwatchers and a large variety of various birds can see here at any time. This place is home for various migratory birds like Siberia. Other birds like night herons, golden backed woodpeckers, egrets, kingfishers and paradise fly catchers can found here in abundant.

Backwaters

Climate

This small village experiences a tropical climate. Monsoons experience medium rainfall and backwater cruising is not allowed during this period. Summers are quite hot and humid with average 35 centigrade temperature. Winters are pleasant here with average 20 centigrade temperature.
